Hi All !
South Delhi has been suffering from the side effects of development. Ashram flyover area which connects the choker blocked Ring Road with DND Flyway has been undergoing repair work. Thereby causing motorists to experience chaos.
PWD has closed off a segment of the road on Sarai Kale Khan for the repairs. A senior traffic police officer stated - To avoid congestion, motorists coming from Andrews Ganj Chowk should take a left turn to on Bhisham Pitamah Marg under the Lodhi flyover and enter the Barapullah corridor for reaching Sarai Kale Khan. For motorists coming from Moolchand, their advice is to take a left on Ring Road and get on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and use the Nizamudin entry to Barapullah.

According to WLC Review on Barapullah, it is even more jam packed.
Hi All !
Did you know that the universal teacher's day is 05th October and not 05th September ?
Did you know why that is so ?
Have you ever heard of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan ?
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was our very 1st vice president ! He went on to become the 2nd President of India. He was an Indian Philosopher and received several awards.
05th September is his birthday ! In the year 1962 he announced that his birthday was to be celebrated as Teacher's Day in honor of the educators in the Indian Society.
Hi All !
Delhi High Court has ordered Delhi Urban Shelters Improvement Board on Wednesday to construct more than 180 night shelters for the homeless. This initiative would be seen taking effect all across the national capital region.
With rains pouring heavily these days and winter months fast approaching, WLCI commends this decision and supports the cause. Delhi needs to improve the situation of the homeless and poor in order to grow as a nation !
Hi All !
Yes the title is correct, I just read this news article which has reported that fearing charges travelers have been disposing bars of gold in the washrooms of the International (T3) airport in New Delhi.
Shocking isn't it, what's more shocking is the amount that has been disposed and the frequency. Officials say that this sort of smuggling is due to the threefold increase in import duty on this precious metal.
A funny incident that I read was that someone had smuggled a gold bar worth 40 Lakh Rupees in the body of a smartphone. Police found the device in the loo and tried switching it on, when they failed in doing so, they put it through the scanner to find the gold !

Hi All !
Unfortunately, it has been reported that there are at least 6 suspects carrying the Ebola Virus in India. However, since proper regulation to restrict the spread of this epidemic had been initiated in the beginning of August, the official have the situation under control.
Yesterday, the suspected patients were admitted into the special quarantine facility constructed at the Delhi airport. I must say the way the health ministry is tackling such an extreme threat is remarkable. Such calmness all in order to maintain peace in the nation !
Kudos !
Hi All !
Another celebrity leaves us for the heavenly abode. Surprisingly, the month of August has seen quite a lot of deaths.
Richard Attenborough was a British legend. A celebrated actor, director and producer, he did wonders for the Film Fraternity. His career spanned over 6 decades and was a part of some fantabulous scripts.
He directed - Ben Kingsley starer "Gandhi" and Robert Downey Jr. starer "Chaplin" amongst many other revolutionary films. As an actor he played vital roles through the era of 40's - 60's. His first movie that I saw as a kid was Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg.
Aged 90 he was short of 5 days to turn 91 when he left us.
Hi All !
Its too soon for details, but I just wanted to inform you that the Connaught Place area in New Delhi has been closed to the public. This has been done on account of the fire which broke out near the Rama Place building.
Fire was reported at around 8 am and more than 10 firetrucks were rushed to the spot. The situation has been curtailed and no reports on any casualties.
This was followed by another fire reported at Old Delhi's Kinari Bazar area. The report stated that a transformer caught on fire. No causalities have been reported.
Kudos to the fire department for taking such swift responses.

Hi All,
Safdarjung observatory for weather has confirmed no rain is in the forecast for Delhi. This dry weather is killing us all ! This is by far the hottest August in all my years at Delhi or according to the weather department, since 2002.
Humidity is expected to stay in the range of 35 - 69 %. Well that's definitely not good news !
And in times like these I have friends pouring Ice water on their head's doing challenges for an association that they know nothing about. By the way, the ALS Association did not start the Ice Bucket Challenge, just FYI !
The meteorological department has stated that Delhi has received 32% less rain fall this year.

Hi All !
Great news ! I just read online that there are a few seats still available for admissions into university at WLCI Delhi !
Courses in Business Management is offered. Admission into the college will be on the basis of a competitive test followed by a counselling session by the mentors.
WLCI strongly believes that everyone should be educated so as to decrease the rate of illiteracy in India. Quality education that not only teaches bu also trains a student is highly desired by the society today. All a candidate needs to is look for the right educator !
We are surrounded by opportunities, never give up.

Hi All !
Wishing you all a very Happy Birthday on the day of Lord Krishna's Birth Anniversary !
Wishes started yesterday for this auspicious day and so did the decorations. The city was decorated in tri color just a few days ago, with efforts from the NDMC who had placed stands adorned with flowers showcasing the Indian flag.
Giving them direct competition are the Krishna devotees who have beautifully covered the temples with their love and affection. This is a grand scale event for the Hindu's and all across the nation people will have the ancient tradition of Matka Haandi Breaking ceremony !
Hi All !
Turns out Delhi University is getting a bit more relaxed when it comes admissions. For the first time ever, DU has incorporated a column for the third gender in our society !
This is for now applicable in the post graduate forms, but I hope they incorporate it in all. The Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender community (LGBT) is rejoicing stating their feeling that this a positive move towards a more equal nation !
Everyone is unique but that should not allow us to discriminate against them. They breathe the same air we do, why can't they sit with us and have the same rights ? It's the narrow minded population that is slowly corroding our nation. WLCI strongly feels that eradicating silent villains of our society is vital !
Hi All !
This month has been quite terrible for me .. lost my comic book hero Pran and now my all time favorite comedian Robin Williams.
I woke up in shock today ! It was kind of expected for Pran being old and unwell for so long. But Robin suffering from depression and committing suicide is one story I don't want to believe.
My childhood hero, he had a direct line to my funny bone. Just seeing his face would make me burst out laughing ! Did you know he was the Genie in Alladin ? I can literally watch his movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji and Good Morning Vietnam for hours and not get tired.
Rest In Peace my Hero !
Hi All !
Let me tell you about the new initiative by the DMRC. Being the week consisting of 15th August, the Metro officials have planned out a week of celebration for the Independence Day.
Activities have been chalked out and the decorations put up !
From the stations being painted in the tri-color to quiz competitions and special rides. The authorities are not holding back on their effort to give the commuters the "Proud To Be Indian" feel.
I'm definitely looking forward to their plans and I'm hopeful this will spread like wild fire !
Certainly !
Hi All !
WLCI in Delhi has started devoting time and effort to make it cleaner and greener. Recently a cleanliness and sanitation drive was established in Delhi. Yours faithful WLCI is participating in the same. A week long of good deed can yield in a better tomorrow for all.
Another such effort that I'm focusing on is the efforts made against dengue in Delhi. This campaign started on Thursday with the hopes of eradicating this disease and spreading awareness. I wish I could be in 2 places at the same time. However, if everyone starts contributing, I don't think any effort would ever fail.
Hi All !

Wondering how come there is a sudden emergence of traffic in the South Delhi Region ? Well its because of the Pro - Kabbadi League !
Being held at Thyagraj Stadium it has caused much nuisance in regards to the traffic status. However, the win attributed by the Dabang Delhi players has resulted in some pride .. I must say !
God knows what they magic power possessed them in their match against the Bengal Warriors. They played their heart out ! They were in the lead with the score being 11-4 in the initial 10 minutes of the match.
Kudos ! Truly remarkable boys !
Hi All !
WLCI is saddened by the demise of cartoonist - Pran Kumar Sharma. He was the creator of my childhood hero Chacha Chaudhary. Aged 75 years, he left us yesterday after fighting the battle against cancer.
I remember as a kid, he graced the pages of the Limca book of records for popularizing comic books in India. I read somewhere that he was referred to as the "Walt Disney of India".
Hi All !

Hi All !
Indeed ! WLCI is going to join the efforts of a young girl to fight the problem of water shortage in Delhi.
Prakriti Singh is a 16 Year who has her heart set on purifying drinking water. What jolted this initiative was the MCD report stating that 70% of the water supplied in the nation's capital, is not fit for drinking purpose.
She has proclaimed the title of "Water Ambassador" for herself and has taken the notion at large by appointing individuals to perform the task of ensuring that drinking water is not contaminated in schools throughout Delhi.
She was asked in an interview what provoked her, her response was - " After my grandfather died of Jaundice and certain reports about contamination of water in Delhi, I toured interiors of Bihar studying water scarcity and contamination issue. But it wasn't practically feasible for me to work in those area, hence I decided to start with Delhi but I plan to take it to other states as well. "
