WLCI Reports Richard Attenborough's Demise

Hi All !

Another celebrity leaves us for the heavenly abode. Surprisingly, the month of August has seen quite a lot of deaths.

Richard Attenborough was a British legend. A celebrated actor, director and producer, he did wonders for the Film Fraternity. His career spanned over 6 decades and was a part  of some fantabulous scripts.

He directed - Ben Kingsley starer "Gandhi" and Robert Downey Jr. starer "Chaplin" amongst many other revolutionary films. As an actor he played vital roles through the era of 40's - 60's. His first movie that I saw as a kid was Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg.

Aged 90 he was short of 5 days to turn 91 when he left us.

Hi All,

WLCI College ReviewsSafdarjung observatory for weather has confirmed no rain is in the forecast for Delhi. This dry weather is killing us all ! This is by far the hottest August in all my years at Delhi or according to the weather department, since 2002.

Humidity is expected to stay in the range of 35 - 69 %. Well that's definitely not good news !

And in times like these I have friends pouring Ice water on their head's doing challenges for an association that they know nothing about. By the way, the ALS Association did not start the Ice Bucket Challenge, just FYI !

WLCI reports on Nawroz

Hi All !

So it turns out yesterday was another festival which got shadowed by the Janamashtmi celebrations. The minority clan of Parsi's engaged in the joyous occasion of "Nawroz", a term that translate to The New Day.

This day marks the end of the Parsi year and everyone gathers to observe in peace the memory of departed souls of family members and friends. This tradition of celebrating Nawroz falls twice in the year, once at the time of northern equinox, March 21st to celebrate the spring festival, and once during the months of July/August.

Yesterday was celebrated as the last day of the year for Parsi's. According to Wikipedia, it is known as Pateti, but the population of 700 Parsi's in the Delhi NCR region feel differently !

Whatever be the name of the festival ! WLCI wishes the Parsi's with a warm heart !

Giving them direct competition are the Krishna devotees who have beautifully covered the temples with their love and affection. This is a grand scale event for the Hindu's and all across the nation people will have the ancient tradition of Matka Haandi Breaking ceremony !

WLCI Reports on Independence Day

Reviews of WLCI College

Happy Independence Day to all !

You all might have experienced on road the full effect of the day. From traffic jams to tri-colored decorations, the authorities in Delhi are not holding back in ensuring the beauty as well as safety for the nation's capital region.

At this time WLCI requests you to have some patience, as the cops are just trying to do their job. Remember when you'll be flying kites or eating samosa's with your near and dear one's, they will be out there on streets ensuring our safety.

The officials have issued a notice stating - Given the full dress rehearsal that is to happen on the 14th of August, commuters are advised to stay off the road - Bus, Car or Auto and use the Metro instead. WLCI requests you to adhere to the request of the noble officers who are working even on a National Holiday.

WLCI Admissions News

Hi All !

WLCI College Admissions NewsTurns out Delhi University is getting a bit more relaxed when it comes admissions. For the first time ever, DU has incorporated a column for the third gender in our society !

This is for now applicable in the post graduate forms, but I hope they incorporate it in all. The Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender community (LGBT) is rejoicing stating their feeling that this a positive move towards a more equal nation !

Everyone is unique but that should not allow us to discriminate against them. They breathe the same air we do, why can't they sit with us and have the same rights ? It's the narrow minded population that is slowly corroding our nation. WLCI strongly feels that eradicating silent villains of our society is vital !

Got a complaint ? Go ahead and WhatsApp them at 9910641064 !

Let's hope that the solution is just as effective as the strategy.

Review of WLCI on RIP Robin

Hi All !

This month has been quite terrible for me .. lost my comic book hero Pran and now my all time favorite comedian Robin Williams.

I woke up in shock today ! It was kind of expected for Pran being old and unwell for so long. But Robin suffering from depression and committing suicide is one story I don't want to believe.

My childhood hero, he had a direct line to my funny bone. Just seeing his face would make me burst out laughing ! Did you know he was the Genie in Alladin ? I can literally watch his movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji and Good Morning Vietnam for hours and not get tired.

Rest In Peace my Hero !

Is WLCI at Delhi doing good ?

Certainly !

Hi All !

WLCI in Delhi has started devoting time and effort to make it cleaner and greener. Recently a cleanliness and sanitation drive was established in Delhi. Yours faithful WLCI is participating in the same. A week long of good deed can yield in a better tomorrow for all.

Another such effort that I'm focusing on is the efforts made against dengue in Delhi. This campaign started on Thursday with the hopes of eradicating this disease and spreading awareness. I wish I could be in 2 places at the same time. However, if everyone starts contributing, I don't think any effort would ever fail.

Hi All !

WLCI is saddened by the demise of cartoonist - Pran Kumar Sharma. He was the creator of my childhood hero Chacha Chaudhary. Aged 75 years, he left us yesterday after fighting the battle against cancer.

I remember as a kid, he graced the pages of the Limca book of records for popularizing comic books in India. I read somewhere that he was referred to as the "Walt Disney of India".

Is WLCI solving Delhi Problem

Hi All !

Indeed ! WLCI is going to join the efforts of a young girl to fight the problem of water shortage in Delhi.

WLC College FeedbackPrakriti Singh is a 16 Year who has her heart set on purifying drinking water. What jolted this initiative was the MCD report stating that 70% of the water supplied in the nation's capital, is not fit for drinking purpose.

She has proclaimed the title of "Water Ambassador" for herself and has taken the notion at large by appointing individuals to perform the task of ensuring that drinking water is not contaminated in schools throughout Delhi.

She was asked in an interview what provoked her, her response was - " After my grandfather died of Jaundice and certain reports about contamination of water in Delhi, I toured interiors of Bihar studying water scarcity and contamination issue. But it wasn't practically feasible for me to work in those area, hence I decided to start with Delhi but I plan to take it to other states as well. "

WLCI Delhi and Mumbai, Bangalore etc

Hi All !

In a recent study it has been found that Delhi-ites are more adaptable to e-commerce as opposed to other metropolitans, including - Mumbai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

According to the survey, 67% of the online shoppers as compared to offline shoppers, hail from our very own Delhi. Followed by Mumbai at 60 % , Ahmedabad at 52% and Bangalore at 50%.

Also what caught my attention was that maximum shopping occurs whilst the citizen of Delhi are at work !

That is during the hours between 12pm - 4pm on any given working day. Guilty as charged !

WLCI Reviews Criminal Tracking Network System

Hi All !

I just read in the news today that an initiative has been started to eliminate cyber crime. Officials from Delhi Police have been asked to join hands with the cyber police network. The combined effort would be done under the Criminal Tracking Network System. The CCTNS is a cyber portal of criminal records and has ties with other states that would enhance their crime-fighting abilities.
WLCI College Review

The CCTNS has been taken up as a mission mode project as part of the government's National e-Governance plan (NeGP) under the supervision and guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs. For implementing the project, a total of Rs.540.61 crore has been released to states and union territories till March 31, 2014, of which Rs.334.81 crore has been utilized (62 percent of the funds).
